Sue Shakespeare’s 2024 100km Ultra Challenges

“This year I have decided to take on not one but two enormous walking challenges to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan have supported so many of my friends and family members. They offer a range from emotional, physical and financial support to the entire family. I would like to ensure that they can continue to do this vital work. Both these 100km (62 miles) walks are continuous, so I am allowed to stop long enough to change socks, and to eat quickly at the rest stops, but other than that it is left foot right foot and repeat all the way to the finish line. These events are “just the best!!”, very, very hard work, but such fun!!! So far in training I have covered over 1000 miles, and am right on target with my training plan.

SO……..!

I have a place secured on 2 100km (62 miles!) continuous hikes for Macmillan this year : London to Brighton Ultra 25th May and the Peak District Ultra 6th July. I have been training hard, studied the routes and have a strategy in mind…….. a plan that involves start walking, and don’t stop until the finish line, and a mental attitude of when the hills get big, the blisters start the only way is to grit your teeth and keep going! I will add some pictures of the routes at the bottom in the “updates” which might help to show where I am walking to and from. 🥾💚🥾

This last six months I know of 6 of my friends that have received a diagnosis of cancer. I want to be able raise funds so that Macmillan can be there to help them.
